Dental Surgery

Today was the day I had been waiting for and dreading all at the same time. Grant was to have dental surgery the first of February; however had to reschedule because he had bronchitis. So 7 weeks later, today was the day.

We had to wake up and give him a breathing treatment, since he had a slight cold and the doctor needed is lungs clear. He was so brave! Yes there were a few tears driving to the hospital; however once we got there things were better. The lounge had a play area and Daddy occuppied him while I completed paper work.

The nurse called us back and Grant was greeted with a basket full of zoo animals. He then was assigned to a bed in the zoo room and the nurse let him watch TV while we signed forms and talked to the doctors. While this was going on 3 other boys were in for surgery, so it seemed to comfort Grant that he was not the only one. Then when it was time for him to go, he got his license to drive the toy jeep back to the surgical room.

We waited for an hour and a half before we were allowed to go back to see him. As soon as I walked back, I could hear him crying. My heart just broke! It is one thing for yourself to be in pain; however it is completely different when your child is.

After a short time, we were able to take him home. Grant was crying...his teeth and throat hurt. By noon, he was up and feeling pretty good.

He now as 5 silver crowns and 3 white fills in his little mouth. I sincerely hope that when is new teeth come in, they are stronger and healthier.

Thank you God for watching over Grant, for helping the doctors and nurses and for giving me the strength to indure this.

Seeing Green!

This St. Paddy's Day, we celebrated in style! I decorated the table in green and prepared an all green dinner. We had spinach wrapped burritos, green rice (which was a flop), verde salsa with chips, kiwi and a green frosted brownies. It was so fun to celebrate the "Irish"!

March Madness

It has been "madness" at our house...March Madness as I like to say. Our girls are born 4 year and 6 days apart. It was much easier when they were smaller. Now how ever, it was back to back weekends of partying with slumber parties.

Shelby celebrated at T-Rex and Shannon had her very own spa party with make your own pizzas. It was so much fun, but so exhausting! I am still trying to "wind down" from all the excitement, however not this year as Easter falls the week after Shannon's birthday. As I said it is March Madness!

Computer Down!

We have been trouble shooting our computer for over two weeks now! It will not even power up! My wonderful husband as been graciously bringing home his work laptop so I can check e-mails. However we are unable to print for it. You don't know what you have until it is broken! I continue to wait and hope that this part being sent next week will be the answer to our problem. Life without a computer is challenging!

Love is in the Air!

Valentine's Day is a special day at our house celebrated with sparkling cider, candle light, small gifts made/purchased with love, homecooked meal and Dad's favorite peanut butter pie drizzled with chocolate syrup.

This year we ended up spending the majority of the evening at school with student/teacher conferences, so the meal was made by Schwan's (however the pie was made by Mom). By the time we got home to eat the kids were wiped out, tempers were raw and it was late! So much for love being in the air!

After a good night sleep all is well and there now is "love in the air" at our house!

First Communion in the "Air"

In a few short months, Shannon will be receiving her first communion. Mom has many things to do before then...find that perfect dress pattern, purchase the material, have Grammy sew it, get pictures taken, have Shannon study and prepare for her first communion, meet with the priest, and plan a celebration!
It is hard to believe that just a few short years ago, Shelby had her first communion. Now we are preparing for Shannon's. I know that I will "blink" and it will be Grant's turn.

Sometimes Life Throws You A Curve Ball

That is how I feel today. Today was a much dredded day at my house...Grant was to have dental surgery done to correct his 8 cavities. Yes you heard me right 8 cavities. I have been on pins and needles for a month now waiting for this day. Yesterday, we took him to get his physical done and he has bronchitius, which means no surgery. So I guess I have to wait longer and hope that his one cavity does not give him problems until our next scheduled appointment.

Note to me: never mention that he has not been sick a week before. Because it will come true!
