Ding! Ding! Ding!

Yeah! The sounds of the ice cream truck! What fun!

Don't you remember the days when you were outside playing and the ice cream truck would come down the street? What fun it was to enjoy a cool treat on a hot summer day! The life of a child. I love these time when I can relive my childhood memories of fun with my children.

Yum! Yum! Enjoy the delicious moments of summer!

Come Here Ginger and Sit

This weekend we had the opportunity to care for MiMi's new dog Ginger. Ginger is a 4 to 6 month old chocolate lab, with the most adorable face and disposition. The kids fell in love with her, especially Shannon. Shannon played with her, walked her, petted her and even picked up "presents" left on our walks.

Ginger was very patient and loved the attention. However, one evening at 4:30 am I heard her howling in the garage. So, I went down to give her a little needed love and attention. My observation with Ginger is that pet ownership is just like having a new baby in the house. They are adorable, fun and require a lot of work. Maybe one day soon, we can get a dog of our own.

Swimming Pool Opens!

Sunday, our community pool opened and the kids wanted to go. After church, we grapped a quick bit to eat and headed to the pool.

The kids enjoyed splashing around, while MiMi, Mom and Dad enjoyed watching from the side of the pool because the water was so COLD. Watching our three come out with purple lips, reminded me of the times when I was a kid and would get in the cold water. At that time it did not matter if it was cold, fun was the name of the game then. Now in my "older" age, I want a nice warm water before I venture in, which might not be until July before it get to my liking.

Thank you Shannon, Shelby and Grant from bringing back those wonderful memories of my childhood. I love you!

A Party At Our House

We always look for ways to enjoy the little moments. Last night was the season finale of American Idol (a show which our whole family enjoys). Who was to win? David or David? We wanted David Cooke. Of course part of the fun of this show is determining who will stay and who will go.

We prepared a "fun" meal (aka "fun" very little nutrion) of buffalo chicken pizza, mozerella sticks, cheese bits and taquitos. We sit down to enjoy great food and great music. Just before 9 pm, American Idol announced the winner....David Cooke! We won! We got it right this year! Can't wait for next season!

A Day for Me

Yesterday, I enjoyed a day for me. Yes, you heard me correctly...I spent a day doing what I wanted to do while the kids were at school. These days come few and far between but it was one I was needing.

I went over to my BFF's (Stephanie) house to scrapbook. I could have worked on a scrapbook exchange that is due on June 6, but I decided to do some scrapbooking for me. I finished up one layout and completed another which I need to find pictures for. The dear Lord gave us a beautiful day of warm weather, good food and great company. The lunch on her deck just completed this day of fun!

This day of rest was just what the "doctor" ordered!

Life as a Mother

My last week was over flowing with things to do!

It started Monday, with Shannon's Brownie ceremony which I prepared for and then made cupcakes for Grant to take to school on Tuesday for his birthday. Then Tuesday came with getting treats to class for Grant, serving lunch, then attending Shelby's middle school musical (which they did a fabulous job!). Wednesday I spent all day making Grant's birthday party favors which included personalized carpentar aprons and contruction hats. I also finalized the shopping for Shannon's first communion. Thursday I worked at school and then went out with my wonderful husband of 15 years to dinner. Friday, we meet friends at a gymnastic gym to let the kids play. Afterward the work began, preparing for Grant's construction party and Shannon's first communion. I was up until mid night making the home-made construction cone pinata, card board house, preparing for the games and wrapping all the gifts. Saturday, brought Grant's party at 11 am then Mass at 4:30 and finally Shannon's first communion party at 6:30!

Sunday, my loving husband woke up early and made a trip to Panera Bread to treat me to breakfast in bed. I enjoyed my delicious spinach ardichoke souffle and chocolate pastery. The kids gave me a special card which had their voices on it. Then it was off to mass to see my BFF daughter take her first communion. After mass, I went home to collect my family and had a nice surprise...my whole house was cleaned! Yeah! Off to my BFF's daughter's party and then finally over to Grams and PaPa's house for Mother's Day dinner.

As you can see, my life is always an adventure! One that I would not change for the world.

Tornado Touch Down

A tornado touch down within 20 blocks of our home!

Thank heavens we had our bedroom window opened, because around 2 am we heard the most horrible sound of wind roaring. We quickly shut the window and turned on the weather to see what was going on. We were in middle of a storm. The weatherman said it was "hurricane" speed winds of 70 to 80 mphs. We heard limbs breaking and hail on the house. By 3 am things had calmed down; however from our windows we could tell we had tree limb damage in the back.

We have been planning to have a couple of dead trees removed from our backyard. The winds topped those trees for us. We have some work to be done, but we feel blessed because the limbs landed on the ground and not in our house.

For those that were less fortunate, please know our prayers are with you.

Crowning Mary

May 1st is Crowning Mary at church. The students all brought flowers to "crown" Mary and remember her love and devotion to God. I was so excited to help in Grant's Pre-K class with this special ceremony.
It was "angelic" seeing the children put flowers around Mary.

Lord, thank you for all your beauty!
